Backgammon Gold App Reviews

I am an experienced player. This game cheats.

I am a long time backgammon player and I believe this game cheats by using look-ahead on rolls and/or creating advantageous rolls for itself. For example, it consistently doubles before rolling doubles and seems to roll doubles more frequently than the user. Annoying.

Turn Based

Fair but needs features such as turn-based mode and tournaments.

No good game!

Played this game for about a year. 90% dice luck, 10% skill. Deleted from my device.

Great

Easy to play. Lots of fun. Nice to be able to play with friends or against the computer.

Beware the top 750

Almost all of the top ranked players have discovered a way to manually select their rolls. I just lost to #676 from Spain that played nothing but doubles. I cannot understand the fun in gaming the system for the sole purpose of increasing their ranking in a corrupt game!

I play for 30 yrs, some one who shows that he doesnt know how to play professionally and does a lot of mistakes, comes and give you doule and win you.any dice they want and at list 5 or more doubles, it is not fair game!!!

Wonderful

Its amazing everything is included nothing is forgotten, thanks. The only thing I think must be included is tournaments between friends and world-wide.

Dice roll is rigged

The dice rolling is not random. The harder the setting the worse your roll. For instance, it gave me the same roll 4 out of 5 times when that particular combination of numbers was the only thing I did not need.

Decent backgammon game, garbage app

Played the game a few times and actually enjoyed it. Bought the full version for $6 in-app, but none of the supposed features were activated. Restoring purchases indicated I had, in fact, bought the premium version, but still the features were not unlocked, obnoxious ads still showing during every game. Tried it on another phone, as well as my iPad, same problem. It even tried to make me pay for each feature as I tried to use them. Fix your terrible interface and your buggy app before charging so much!

The dice are rigged

The chance of getting the perfect roll you need is 1/6 x 1/6 which is 0.02777 which is 2.8%. So how does the computer continually get the perfect roll to win? Obviously because the game is rigged to favor the computer. The program for the dice is pathetically screwed up, even with randomorg.com rolls!! I am so disappointed in the programmers rolling in dough but cant even make a decent program for random dice rolls.

Nice game

one of the best games

Statistically flawed

After playing this game of the hardest level, I noticed the unlikely occurrences of "perfect rolls" for the computer player. Thus, I started loading the outcomes into SPSS (statistical software). To put it mildly if this was played in Vegas someone wouldve been thrown out of the casino.. This game is entertaining enough but not impressive when it comes to the random element of the roll. It appears that maybe the designers have not fully explored how to randomly generated the toss results. Too bad because otherwise this is pretty nice good wee it appears that maybe the designers have not fully explored how to randomly generate the toss results. Dice are rigged

As others have written, the dice are not even close to random. Cannot play this game for any length of time. Its free, so whatever.

Too lucky to be luck!

Amazing how you only get doubles when you cant get we them and the AI gets the exact roll it needs to cover up or set you back! This is so bad that I can find my self predicting, with almost a 90% accuracy, what the AI is going to roll!

Consistently Improbable Dice Results

Im not sure how or why the dice rolls so very consistently turn games momenta completely around. However, this definitely happens. This characteristic of the app defies logic and randomness. Play the app enough, and this becomes apparent. Also, the dice rolls will consistently repeat rolls during a match, e.g. double fours. If the vendors choose to eliminate these characteristics, this app would be an excellent backgammon game. As it is, it only vaguely resembles a true hand rolled dice backgammon game. The Random.org roll option as seen in this app is a joke.

Cheats

Cheating has increased tremendously. You continually get hit and cant get out. Occasionally it will let you win however you know its letting you vs you performed well.

Unfair

Always rolls in the computers favor after you challenge a double

Favorite among the ones Ive played

I like this version of backgammon more than others I have played. I dont think I have ever, Ever, played a computer based game of backgammon where the rolls seemed as random and fair as playing with another person face to face. Believe none of the nonsense about true rolls. This is as slanted against the player as any Ive seen. The play itself is smooth and well designed which makes it fun to play. "Fun" in a manner of speaking. I feel like I get a chance to improve my play, but often at the cost of fair and decent game play. For one example, when the game needs doubles to win, it gets them most of the time. The number of times Ive received doubles in order to win a game is maybe ten or twelve games out of many hundreds of games played. Maybe its crooked but its one of the best around otherwise.

Almost Perfect

There seems to be at times a statistical anomaly. For example, in two separate games one after another, my opponent rolled two sets of triple doubles in a row coming from behind to win in both of those games. The odds of that are something over 1,000,000,000 to 1. Other than that its a pretty good game.

Fair dice

The dice seem to be even in this version of backgammon. There are still time were you can tell that the computer is cheating but overall its a fantastic game for backgammon lovers.

Fishy Dice

I’m usually not a Backgammon conspiracy theorist, but I’ve been playing this app for awhile now and it’s been increasingly difficult not to notice that there’s something strange going on. I seem to consistently see more improbable, unlucky dice rolling while playing against the computer in this app than in any other. Further adding to my suspicion is my experience with the “Random.org rolls” option in the Settings. I noticed once while playing this app during an internet outage that it was somehow able to still get rolls from internet, despite not having an internet connection. The setting was still turned and I didn’t receive any type of error message. It’s unfortunate because this is otherwise a good app. Its major flaw is that it frequently gives the impression that you’re being beat by the dice rather than by good play.
